SIBs Blacksmithing Scholarship Program

We are proud to partner with the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths (SIBs) to provide full scholarships, removing financial barriers to blacksmithing education for students from underrepresented communities. Learn about eligibility requirements, what’s covered, and how to apply below.

Eligibility

This scholarship welcomes applications from individuals who are part of communities that have been underrepresented in traditional trades, including those who identify as:

  • Black, Indigenous, and People of Color
  • LGBTQIA+
  • Women and gender-diverse individuals
  • People with disabilities
  • Other systemically underrepresented communities

All applicants must be 18 or older and self-report that class costs would create financial hardship.

What’s Covered

The SIBs scholarship provides 100% of the cost of our blacksmithing classes, including all materials.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We’re proud to work with the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths, a nonprofit organization that partners with forges nationwide to build a more equitable craft community. Together, this scholarship addresses historical exclusion and creates pathways for diverse practitioners to enter metalworking.

How We Select Recipients

Applications are reviewed based on demonstrated need and genuine interest in blacksmithing. We prioritize individuals who haven’t previously received SIB scholarships, ensuring broad access to opportunities.

What We Ask in Return

Scholarship recipients contribute to our community by:

  • Completing their enrolled program
  • Sharing a brief reflection on their learning experience
  • Allowing us to celebrate their achievements (with full respect for privacy preferences)
  • Helping create a welcoming environment for all students

Building Community Through Craft

This scholarship is an investment in expanding who gets to be part of blacksmithing’s future. Traditional crafts grow stronger when they include diverse perspectives, experiences, and creative approaches.

Your unique background brings value to our learning community. We want to support that contribution by removing economic obstacles to participation.
