The railroad spike is one of the first knife projects every bladesmith makes; it’s almost a rite of passage on your way to becoming a bladesmith. Step up your experience by signing up for our power hammer railroad spike class! You’ll learn the safe operation of the power hammers at our facility, and also how to forge a well-made railroad spike knife with our knowledgeable instructors. Come down to Adam’s Forge to gain the skill and know-how to make your very own.

In this class we’ll discuss blade profiling under the power hammer, and we will walk through the basics of heat treatment and grinding to ensure that you walk out satisfied and proud of the blade you make with us. Bring your friends over for a good time and make some knives!

Important note: At the end of this class there will be a test administered for every student that must be passed. To be approved to use the power hammers in an open forge session, you must have taken any power hammer course that we offer and passed the practical test.

Please note: the first week that registration for this workshop is open, spots may only be purchased by members. If you find you are unable to register, please check back after that first week has passed, or consider becoming a member of Adam’s Forge. All proceeds go towards supporting our amazing organization, and membership will bring you exclusive events and opportunities, along with a community of other blacksmiths!
