In this class, you’ll make a set of essential tools of the blacksmith’s trade.  More importantly, with the skills you acquire, you’ll be able to make all kinds of custom tools: punches and chisels for eyes, ears, fins, scales and more.  You’ll make a center punch, scribe, round punch, hot-cut chisel and a very handy set of dividers that can be used with one hand.

You’ll learn how to forge, and heat treat tool steel, how to maintain and dress your tools as well as some of the finer points of tool design.

For those interested in obtaining CBA (California Blacksmith Association) level I certification, successful completion of this class will satisfy 5 of the requirements needed.

To quote one of our instructors: ‘Blacksmithing is a superpower.  I get to make tools that other people have to buy.’

Prerequisite: Discovery or Letter Opener Discovery Class.
